I wish everyone a very happy new year! At the NVRC annual breakfast meeting on December 7, 2019, HLCnova was presented with a special $50 gift card for being angels (also known as volunteers and donors). The NVRC 2020 Gala celebrated on December 14, 2019 was a great success. Many HLCnova members attended and enjoyed the dinner, lively entertainment, and silent auction.
Our monthly meetings will resume on January 18, 2020 at 10:30 AM with Mardie Younglof presenting “Getting Started in Genealogy: A Hobby Always at Your Fingertips.” Her program will begin at 10:30, so members should plan on arriving in time to be seated at 10:30. Coffee and cookies will be served. Following the meeting, the HLCnova board members will met for their semi-monthly meeting.
On February 15, 2020, Bob Silber will present “Coffee Beyond the Cup.” There will be coffee and cookies for us all.
At our March 21, 2020 meeting, we will welcome in person, Ms. Katherine Bouton from New York City, author of “Smart Hearing: Strategies, Skills, and Resources for Living Better with Hearing Loss.” If you have a copy of one of her books, please bring it, as she will be autographing her books. Also bring your questions for her to bring up during the discussion at the end of her presentation. Coffee and cookies will be served.
HLCnova meetings are held on the 3rd Saturday of each month at 10:30 AM to noon at Northern Virginia Resource Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, 3951 Pender Drive, Suite #130, Fairfax, VA 22030. See “Where We Meet” for directions.
