HLCnova Newsletter from the president

November 2019

Our HLCnova meeting on October 26, 2019 was a great success due to Joe Duarte’s excellent presentation on “Home Safety for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Mild Hearing Loss”.  He covered hearing aids and cochlear implants and how each work with different home alert equipment.  His shared heartfelt personal experiences made the information very valuable.

We used a new phone captioning devise, Otter, due to a last-minute change with CART.  Bob Silber provided a running dialogue of Joe’s speech so that we could all read it on the screen as it was happening!  Thank you so much for your hard work, Joe and Bob. It worked well and may be used for future presentations. Try this at home!
