HLCnova April 2021 Newsletter

It’s March 31st and raining cats and dogs at my house.  That’s my April Fool’s joke because my dog is sleeping on my bed at the moment and the two cats are prowling around the house looking for stray any-things to play and eat such as snakes, spiders, mice, crickets, yard lizards, all things that shouldn’t be present in the house as far as I’m concerned. And we have had several of each over the years. The cats eat well.  The dog and the cats don’t rain, they “rein” the house. Happy April Fool’s Day, everyone!

HLCnova Touchpoint meets on April 7, 2021, at 12 P M (Noon) on Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent April 5th to all members.  Bring family members and hearing-loss topic-interested friends.  We enjoy sharing our hearing loss concerns, issues, successes, and problems.  This very testing time has provided no end of each.

This month on April 17, at the HLCnova monthly Zoom meeting, Mardie Younglof will give a PowerPoint program about how she discovered a bigamist in her family tree and unearthed the story behind him. He was the husband of her great aunt, and viewers will be entertained by the numerous unexpected twists and turns. It will be very easy for members to follow, since the PowerPoint slides do the “talking.”  Members will receive the Zoom link April 15th.  Mardie’s program is Part II of her genealogy series.  Part I was well received last year with requests for more.  She loves her genealogy hobby and the enjoyment it has given her to be able to share it with HLCnova members.

HLCnova meetings are currently on the Zoom platform.  The Zoom link is sent two days before the event.  All meetings are free to all members, and members are encouraged to bring family and friends.  Virginia Relay, State of Virginia Department of Deaf and Hearing Loss, provides captioning -either AI or CART.
